I don't watch much TV (don't even own one, actually). Despite this there are two shows I have become addicted to: BBC's Sherlock and Doctor Who. From this infatuation comes a new paper doll series that is highly un-original and completely devoted to the Doctor. For those of you who haven't seen an of the series (I pity you!) I will try not to give any spoilers, just costume details. For more information on Doctor Who check out BBC's website: Doctor Who
Lissette wears the simple, homemade cotton gown with a gathered over-skirt made to mimic a bustle.
Days like this (when it's 90+ degrees outside) make me glad that I do live in modern times and have the comfort of wearing shorts & t-shirts, air-conditioned buildings, and fresh cool water at the turn of a handle. As beautiful as I think the opulent gowns of previous centuries are, I can't imagine how hot they would be on a summer day! I much prefer my cotton sundress, which has no need for a chemise, corset, corset cover, crinoline, etc.
You've met Coridel and Alisaid, now it's Jonquil's turn! Because I'm vain, I'll preface her with: this is the first draft! I am not pleased with her face or hands (and especially not those big bug eyes!), but her dresses are still cool, so she'll be posted for your own amusement and my chagrin.
I am trying to organize things so I can post PDFs/JPGs for you print, but I'm thinking it won't happen until our weather begins to turn sour. Right now when I have freetime it's all "Let's go weed!", "Let's paint the bathroom!", "Let's go weed some more!" lol. Which I love! But I am looking forward to the cooler fall days where I can hole up in my basement cave and paperdoll away as I re-watch Doctor Who...
