I just realized that Catniss' hands are incredibly small. I always mess hands up! Obviously I need to start measuring them... This is the outfit Catniss wears during the ride from District 12 to the Capital. It is described in rather vague terms of a green shirt and trousers, so I took the liberty of adding some aesthetic flourishes that I imagine all clothing from the capital would own. You can see her mockingjay pin if you look closely.

I couldn't help sharing the following photo of my dog Chiva, she just looks so darn cute! I'm getting her ready to do a lot of hiking this summer. This is the third time she's worn the backpack and booties, she seems to like them!

Here is Adelaide dressed as a pirate. I had a lot of fun drawing this one because hasn't everyone wanted to be a pirate as a child? I know I sure did. As a pirate lass, Adelaide wears a shortened skirt (comes down just around her ankles to facilitate movement); a leather overskirt covers this to protect her from dirt, gunpowder, and erroneous sword blades; her shirt is a mens shirt which she elegantly drapes as a tunic (or not); an exotically dyed sash from India covers her waist, accompanied by a long leather belt in which her pistol is tucked.

I was feeling pretty ridiculous when I drew this outfit. I figured Ella's finishing school was full of pointless lessons, so her clothing there would be full of pointless, er, ribbons, bows, layers, things. I draw frills very poorly, so instead of a frilly dress, I present a ridiculous dress!

Here is the second outfit for Catniss. She wears this gown, which once belonged to her mother, to the reaping. Her mother was born in a fairly wealthy family so the time this dress came from would have been a much happier and expensive time. It's been years since it was worn though (very few reasons to celebrate in District 12), and it is out of style and quite threadbare by this time.

I couldn't resist adding a few photos of my garden; everything is blooming so beautifully! I'm most excited about the photo of the far right, it's one of our two apple trees. Since I took this picture the buds have opened up into lovely blooms! Looks like we'll get a good harvest this year!

Alas, Ella had been sent to finishing school with her new stepsisters: Hattie and Olga. Her time spent at school is horrid (imagine if you too were cursed with obedience and had to do everything your teachers told you to). Hattie has learned of her curse as well and does everything she can to make life miserable.

Here is the last update for Juanna Rodd. She and Leonard have been happily married for ten years and live in Leonard's family estate in England. They are very happy but never forget the adventures that brought them together.

Catniss Everdeen from "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins
I know not all of you have read (or desire to read) the Hunger Games, but perhaps you can still enjoy the costumes. There are so many good outfits from the series it was part of the reason I wanted to try my hand at doing a paper doll (and I was a little disappointed with some of the movie's wardrobe).
Here is Catniss as we first see her: hunting with Gale. She wears a cotton button-up shirt that she outgrew a few years back, the pants are from her father (her mother took them in to fit her), soft leather boots keep her feet warm and protected from briars and thistles. She carries several fish caught at the river. In her game-bag is a plethora of herbs and roots for her mother and Prim (her little sister).

Last we saw Ella she wore an elaborate gown with balloon sleeves and draping cuffs, full skirted with plenty of underskirts, in short a very complicated and troublesome gown (although very lovely). Her natural clumsiness combined with the gown's difficulties caused a commotion at dinner and her father demanded she return in something she could manage better-- and made a snap decision to send her off to finishing school where she could learn to be less like a little elephant.
This dress is much more to Ella's liking: a simple shift with a long robe over it, belted by a sash tied in a quick knot. Unfortunately, Ella will not get to wear many more comfortable outfits. Her future is full of classes, danger, princes and balls!

This weekend we're supposed to get some good weather (74 degrees on Sunday!) so I'm planning on doing a lot of gardening. I already have Rosemary, Borage and Chamomile started in a pot inside. I think I am going to dare planting carrots, peas, radishes, and lettuce outside (hopefully they won't get too cold...). I am so excited to get things in the ground! My raspberrys are starting to show green leaves, and buds are already appearing on my apple trees. I can hardly wait until I can harvest all of the bounty that I'm looking forward to!

Juanna and Leonard return to London, finding that they stand to inherit Leonard's boyhood home: a great country manor house. So, they go from losing everything in the wilds of Africa and starting life as penniless newlyweds to well-off people of high social status. You can imagine their stories and adventures made them popular among their friends.

Here is Tara, hard at work keeping the dogs and cats healthy and safe! Scrubs are pretty much the same, so this is very similar to the scrubs outfit posted for the "Me" doll. Today Tara had a full day of vaccinations, dentals, radiographs, blood draws, and even a gastroenterotomy!
So I've been thinking about toying with colors again. It just takes so much time and effort, I get bored before I've even started. Above are some old outfits I colored awhile ago, but looking at them now I am inspired to try again.
